Virginia Mariconda, M.S., CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist & Sole Proprietor
For many years prior to earning her Master's degree cum laude in Communication Disorders & Sciences, Virginia owned and operated a private tutoring business for both children with Special Needs and neurotypical children. This work then inspired her to pursue a second
career in speech-language pathology. She also holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology
and English.
Additionally, her work has always included behavioral intervention (NOT ABA therapy) in private homes and serving as a behavior consultant in preschools.
These careers combined have given her 31 years of experience working professionally with children.
Virginia holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech- Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). She has provided assessment and treatment in school districts, private practices, and multidisciplinary clinics (speech-language therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy). In school districts, she participated in students' annual Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contributed goals to treatment plans.
Virginia observes the whole child and routinely collaborates with other professionals such as pediatricians, creative arts therapists (i.e. dance-movement therapists, art therapists, and music therapists), nutritionists, occupational therapists, craniosacral body workers, psychotherapists, physical therapists, optometrists who provide Vision Therapy for reading disorders, and neuropsychologists.
She conducts assessments and provides language and speech therapy for children at the infant, preschool and elementary levels through age 10. She serves children with a variety of communication needs including yet not limited to language delay, speech delay, language disorder, phonological disorder, literacy, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Selective Mutism.
For many years, Virginia has also had the privilege of creating and presenting Continuing Education Workshops for parents and preschool educators on various aspects of Child Development in Los Angeles-area preschool districts, as well as at
conferences, on private preschool campuses for educators, and for parent groups (including in private homes). Please contact us if this is of interest.
